Deyna Castellanos returned home this weekend to plant seeds for the future of women’s football in Venezuela. 🇻🇪

The Venezuelan national team captain and Portland Thorns player hosted her first-ever tournament for girls and young women in her home country, creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation to grow, compete, and dream bigger.

The tournament brought together dozens of young players at the Empresas Polar Sports Development Center, where participants competed on the field and connected with one another in an environment centered on confidence, joy, and possibility. For many of the girls involved, the event represented a rare chance to experience a well-supported football space designed specifically for them.

The initiative was made possible with the support of the Queen Deyna Program, Nike, and local partners, who worked together to open real pathways for young women in the sport. Every participant received a Nike kit, every team was provided with new training balls, and the champions left with brand-new cleats.
